Vikki & Colin

Vikki & Colin at The Landmark Hotel, Dundee

When Colin popped the question to a delighted Vikki last year, they decided they did not want a long drawn out engagement, so got straight into organising their wedding to take place at The Landmark Hotel in August 2023.

Vikki and Colin had decided to go with the whole shebang package, so Louise and I arrived at the hotel about 10.30 on the morning of the wedding to capture the bridal prep.

Vikki, her mum; Kate, Bridesmaid Michelle and her niece Rosa were in the bridal suite, getting their glam on, with the talented Ping from Holistic Approach by Ping. There to video the day was Keiran from I do videos, and it was lovely to work alongside him for the first time.

Everyone was very laid back and relaxed and it was a lovely morning filled with lots of laughter. Kate, being a florist, was in charge of the flowers and in between getting herself ready, could be seen working on the bouquets and buttonholes!

The beautiful staircase with soft light pouring in through stained glass windows was the perfect place to photograph Vikkis wedding gown, poor Louise was either up on the window ledge, hiding behind the dress or laying flat on the floor to enable me to get these shots – she’s a star! Vikki had chosen a fabulous off shoulder full skirted gown with button detail down the back (and the must have pockets!) from The Bridal Boutique at Frox of Falkirk.

Vikki chose a simple arrangement of gypsophila for the bouquets, with diamantes in hers to add a bit of sparkle and beautiful memory charms of her late Grandmothers were attached, “On this special day know that we are here, walking you down the aisle our Grandaughter our dear.” As mentioned before the bouquets were created by Mother of the Bride, Kate who is the florist at Moyness Nurseries in Blairgowrie.

In between the girls getting ready I popped down to the grooms room to catch up with him and his best man, Tom. The boys were just adding the finishing touches of ties and buttonholes when we arrived and they looked very dapper in their “Silver Pride of Scotland” kilt outfits from McCalls of Dundee.

With 15 minutes to go before the ceremony I took the opportunity to get some pre-wedding shots of the bridal party.

The original plan was for the wedding ceremony to take place outside, however, in true Scottish style, the weather was having none of it, and after a 12 minute downpour in the morning it was decided that the ceremony would be held in the lovely bright conservatory instead. Colin was patiently awaiting the arrival of his bride, alongside Tom and “Scotlands best Celebrant“, Andrew Scott.

The ceremony was a wonderful mixture of personal stories, vows that included promises of “dishwasher etiquette”, love and lots of laughter. Andrew also incorporated a traditional Scottish handfasting where they literally “tied the knot”.

Following the ceremony, I gave the new Mr & Mrs Mann some time to mingle with their guests.

We then enjoyed a wee walk through the garden and got the couple shots. Despite it being really windy and the fact that Louise managed to remove Vikki’s veil whilst flinging it in the air, we even managed a veil shot!

Group shots were up next, followed by the all important confetti walk! We got this done just in time as it started to cloud over and the rain was on its way.

Once the group shots were done guests were encouraged to take their seats for the speeches prior to the wedding breakfast. I managed to sneak in a few more candid shots during this time.

Colin and Vikki had requested some photos be taken on the staircase, so following the meal we took the opportunity to capture these then.

We still had some time to kill before the party started so I photographed some of the extra touches.

Before the evening celebrations truly got underway, The new Mr & Mrs Mann cut their cake.

Now it was time to get the party started! Tayside Events were in charge of the sound, lighting AND a Silent Disco – This was genius and really made for some fun photography!
